App icon generator: one image, every iOS, Android and web size
To make app icons for every platform, drop one square image (1024 × 1024 is ideal) into the box below and download the ZIP. You get the App Store icon, iPhone and iPad sizes, Android launcher and adaptive-icon layers, favicons, an Apple touch icon and PWA icons, each at the right pixel size and in the right folder. Your artwork never leaves this browser tab.
How it works
The tool decodes your image with the browser, then redraws it onto a square canvas for each target size. Large reductions are done in several half-size steps, which keeps edges crisper than one big jump. Three rules are applied automatically so the files are accepted by the stores:
- iOS and Apple touch icons are flattened. They are painted onto your background colour with no transparency, because App Store Connect rejects icons with an alpha channel.
- Adaptive foreground layers are scaled into the 66/108 safe zone and stay transparent, so Android's circle or squircle mask will not clip your artwork.
- The maskable web icon keeps art inside the inner 80 percent, the safe zone defined for the PWA maskable-icon format.
The preview strip shows your icon under a circle, a squircle and a square mask so you can spot clipping before you ship. The ZIP is built in your browser as an uncompressed archive, so it opens in any unzip tool. For the reasoning behind each number, read the app icon size reference and the guide to safe zones for adaptive and maskable icons.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I resize one image into all the iOS and Android icon sizes?
- Drop a square image, ideally 1024 × 1024 pixels, into the tool above, tick iOS, Android and Web, and press Download ZIP. The tool scales your picture to every standard launcher, App Store, Play Store, favicon and PWA size and bundles the PNG files into folders. It all runs in your browser, so the artwork is never uploaded.
- What size should my app icon source image be?
- Start from 1024 × 1024 pixels. That is the App Store size and the largest size in any platform set, so every other size is a downscale, which stays sharp. Upscaling a small source to 1024 makes the large icons blurry, and the tool warns you when your image is under 1024 pixels on its short side.
- Why does the iOS icon have a solid background?
- App Store Connect rejects app icons that contain transparency, and iOS applies its own rounded-corner mask. The tool therefore flattens every iOS and Apple touch icon onto the background colour you choose and leaves the corners square. Android and general web icons can keep transparency if you untick the background option. One caveat: browsers always write PNGs with an alpha channel, so the iOS files are fully opaque (every pixel at 100 percent) but still carry that channel. App Store Connect normally accepts that, but if a validator complains, open the file in any image editor or Preview and export it without alpha.
- What is the safe zone for Android adaptive icons?
- An adaptive icon layer is 108 × 108 dp, but the system mask can crop it to a circle, squircle or rounded square, and only the inner 66 × 66 dp is guaranteed to stay visible. The adaptive foreground set in this tool automatically scales your artwork into that 66/108 area (about 61 percent of the canvas) and keeps the layer transparent.
- Does Xcode still need every iOS icon size?
- Recent Xcode versions accept a single 1024 × 1024 image and generate the other sizes at build time, but many teams, older projects, React Native and Flutter setups, and web wrappers still expect the full set of files. Generating them all costs nothing and avoids missing-size warnings.
- Are my images uploaded to a server?
- No. The picture is decoded and resized with your browser's canvas, and the ZIP file is assembled in memory on your device. You can load the page, switch off your internet connection and the tool still works.
